Anahita Darabbeigi (b. 1996, Iran) is an artist based in Iran whose practice centers on painting and its expansion into sculptural, spatial, and book-based forms. She is a member of the Iranian Painters Association.
Her work explores cultural memory, inherited visual languages, and the ways images and symbols can be reimagined in the present. Drawing from Persian visual traditions while developing her own contemporary imagery, she often works with questions of history, identity, women’s rights, and belonging.
Her ongoing body of work, Persian Garden, evolved from the Battleborn series, in which she began replacing the historically dominant lion with the lioness through a playful dialogue with Persian art history. In her recent works, solitary lionesses inhabit imagined gardens inspired by Persian carpets and miniature painting, creating spaces where cultural memory, resilience, and imagination intersect. Alongside painting, she develops sculptural and spatial works that expand these ideas beyond the picture plane.
Darabbeigi has held three solo exhibitions, most recently Battleborn at Azad Art Gallery, Tehran (2025) and is featured in Iranian Women Painters (Candle & Fog, 2026). Her work has been exhibited in Iran and internationally, and she has developed projects across painting, drawing, printmaking, artist books, and sculpture.
